How To Get Rid Of Rats

Rat Control 1-888-488-7720

Rats and mice are among the most common animal problems I hear about. I get calls all the time from people wondering how to get rid of these pests. Rodents frequently invade kitchens, food storage areas, garages, walls, crawlspaces, basements, or anyplace that contains food. They can be tricky and fast, and leave a mess that is a real nuisance. It is important to get rid of them because they are dangerous to both your health and your property. One female rat can produce 200 offspring in two years!

Protect your health

Rats are notorious for carrying disease, and are responsible for the spread of bubonic plague. They carry many other diseases including typhus, Lyme disease, rat-bite fever, and a host of others. The disease presence is even more dangerous if they occupy areas where your food is stored. Effective pest control is essential to avoid their urine, droppings, and hair, which are all loaded with contaminants. A single rat can turn your home into an outhouse, defecating up to 60 times each day, and leaving odor, mess, and disease. If they leave their little presents in your ventilation system, guess what is blowing into your house every time the heat or the air conditioning kicks on. These contaminants then become airborne and are circulated through your home or business. Dead rats in your walls and living spaces are smelly and are also hazardous to your health and property, as are the diseases and parasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites they bring with them. Similar pests, like mice and squirrels, bring very similar hazards.

Allstate Rat Control:

Speaking of disease, I had a call once from an open heart surgeon with a pest rodent problem . She told me that some animal was in her house keeping her up at night, which made her tired at work. Now, if I had a heart surgeon working on me, please give me one that is well rested! Anyway, it turned out that wild rats were coming in through her foundation and climbing up inside the walls and making a lot of racket scrambling, squeaking, fighting, gnawing.you get the picture. It turned out being a $1,500 job; I was there killing rats for several days , but she considered it money well spent and was just happy to have the animals controlled and removed so she could do her job properly again. Now, if only I could collect from all those people who got improved heart surgeries because of my humble services.well, I'd be a rich man. With hair.

Property damage

Rats, squirrels, and mice cause damage property by gnawing, and create fire hazards when they gnaw at electrical wires. Rodent teeth never stop growing, so they are always chew-chew-chewing at your wiring, wood, pipes, etc., so that their teeth don't grow too long. Nesting rats compound the messes and noise, and offer the potential for even more of them to cause disturbance and damage property. Further , if the rats don't rip out your insulation entirely, they will mat and compress your insulation, leaving your home less able to be heated and cooled effectively. They simply must be eliminated to protect your home or business. The first step to reclaiming your space is to enlist one of my network specialists to remove the rats.

Don't put up with nuisance animals any longer!

Give Allstate Rat Control a call:

I had a situation one time at a cabin up near a local reservoir. The owner let the rat problem go unchecked for waaaaaay too long. By the time I got there, the pack rats had made a mess you would have to see to believe. They had ripped out all the insulation, gnawed through the wiring, chewed wood everywhere (remember, this is a cabin), not to mention all the urine and crap. It was basically a destroyed cabin; practically everything had to be repaired or replaced outright.

Some species of rats burrow, digging tunnels under a garage, crawlspace, or cement slab. This can cause settling and damage your foundation. It also messes up roads and driveways. I had a gentleman one time whose driveway was a total mess because of rats. It sort of looked like the kind of damage you see when tree roots push up under blacktop, except the ridges sunk down instead of up. All because of those wonderful, prolific little critters we call rats. He'd finally had enough and called me to find out how to get rid of the rats.

What do rats eat?

Rats are not picky. They will eat scraps in garbage cans or crumbs in the cupboard. They eat grain and carrion (dead animals). Rats grow quickly, often reaching a length of 18 or 19 inches from tip to tail. Even if you don't see them, you'll find evidence of them by their droppings, and you may hear their scratching, scrambling sounds at night. Trapping them and removing them is the only way to get rid of these eating machines with ever-growing teeth.

Locations that attract rats

Rat infestations can be found in walls, attics, crawl spaces, you name it. We even received one call from a gentlemen who found rats in the engine of his vehicle! They infest woodpiles and outbuildings, and sewer rats are common in irrigation canals. Roof rats prefer to frequent trees, attics, and roofs, getting around on highways of electrical wires with their excellent balance. Winter rat problems often occur when they try to enter your home, garage, or outbuilding when cold weather comes. We always get an increase in requests for service calls with cold weather.

Our Services

My technicians and I can help with your animal removal needs. We offer a wide variety of extermination methods that are legal, humane and effective and several kinds of rat traps including live traps, kill traps, rat poisons, venting (a method which allows the rats to get out but not back in), and rodent fencing. Rodent fencing, or slick fencing, is a tough, slick material that we installed above and below ground, creating a barrier that is very effective at barring rodents and snakes from accessing an area. We also handle mice, squirrels, bats, and other pests.

We also offer dead animal removal from crawlspaces, attics, ceilings, walls, outbuildings, and other hard-to-reach places, as well as tips and techniques for deterring rats. We can help with decontamination and odor control, and can seal the access points into your building or property.
