Get rid of pigeons in Germantown, Maryland

When early settlers moved into Maryland they described birds filling the sky like drops of rain or grains of wheat. Sometimes people in Germantown, Maryland might feel the same way about pigeons. Pigeons seem to be everywhere in eastern urban and suburban areas and even animal lovers want to get rid of pigeons that try to establish roosting sites in conflict with people.

Signs are a favorite roosting place for pigeons. They will build nests on billboards and hotel signs, on fast food restaurant logo signs and highway signs. And, when these birds move in, the sign stops being a way to attract business and becomes a liability. Customers do not want to walk under, drive under or park under a sign where they are likely to be bombed by smelly, slimy bird waste.

Business owners face the possibility of liability if a customer or employee is injured, becomes sick or is traumatized by a pigeon. How could these birds harm a person? They don't attack, do they? No, while they can become aggressive in their search for crumbs, that is not what usually happens. If pigeon waste is not removed immediately walkways and parking lots become slick and dangerous for falls. Pigeons carry or transmit around 60 diseases. Respiratory illnesses are aggravated or created by exposure to particles of pigeon waste that dry and become airborne. People who get waste dumped on their heads can claim trauma. It is important to get rid of pigeons before any of these unfortunate things happen.

When you are ready to get rid of pigeons, keep a few things in mind. Choose a professional pigeon removal service that knows how to do the job right. Make sure you have an agreement on the scope of work and how they will get rid of the birds. Discuss clean up and deterrents and how they prevent future pigeon problems. If you get a complete, customized plan, you can be sure you will get rid of the pigeons, get rid of your worry and get your customers back at the same time.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Germantown and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

Germantown, Maryland Bat Control

Bat control in Germantown, Maryland? Well, this is about my experience with flying, furry creatures that smuggled themselves into my attic—yep, it wasn't even Halloween and I found out my attic had been invaded by a colony that snuck in through this TINY little gap around the vent and decided that they wanted to live there.

I thought, "How hard can it be to get rid of a few little critters?" and decided to have a go at bat control myself. I found the crack and sealed it off—I was going to show those animals who was boss.

Wow, that was a really bad idea. That night, I had bats in my house—really inside, like, in the living room and the kitchen. Those animals really wanted to get out and do their nightly thing. It was pretty dumb of me not to realize that, and now they were looking for a new exit. They found it—through the can lights in the kitchen and a sort of vent thing called a "cold air return."

Anyway, these guys are flying around in the house looking for a way outside. It was freaky! Like something out of a horror movie, except the animals weren't attacking and I didn't know they were so little. I had always visualized huge vampire creatures with massive wing spans. These were just a few inches long, like flying mice. But, don't get the idea I was glad to have them there just because they were little. No way! I wasn't about to share my movie night with them.

We opened all the windows in the house and turned off the lights and got the invaders out, but that didn't solve the bigger bat control problem: how to get them entirely out of the attic. I climbed up a ladder in the dark to re-open their "door" so I wouldn't have an entire colony starving and dying over my head. That was not an evening I would want to repeat.

I decided that PROFESSIONAL bat control would be well worth the price. It was. They got the bats out and that was pretty much that. A little repair. A little clean up. They made it look easy, but I know better. You would have to be batty to do-it-yourself when it comes to bat control.
