Swallow Control in Arvada, Colorado

People in Aurora, Colorado want to know what is the problem with swallows? Why do they build their nests on houses and other buildings? Why are they so messy? Why won't they just go away, and instead come back year after year? Well, I will try to answer those questions and explain a little about swallow control and why we offer this necessary service to homeowners in Arvada, Colorado.

Swallows build their nests in protected locations where they are safe from predatory birds, like hawks, owls or falcons. Vertical surfaces remind them of their traditional home: cliffs. As long as a surface is rough, the nests will cling. Brick, stucco, stone and some types of siding are all good for swallows and may require professional swallow control assistance. Besides the vertical surface and protection, the birds also need plenty of insects to eat and water and mud to build their nests.

Nesting areas are messy because these are dirty birds. You have to remember that wild animals do not have good housekeeping habits and carry diseases and parasites, too. Their droppings tend to stain the surfaces they land on, not to mention the mud stains and discoloration. Where the birds are there will be a mess. This is one of the most common reasons people contact us for swallow control recommendations.

The birds don't go away on their own because they like it at your place. Sometimes human lifestyles hurt animals, but in general these birds thrive in urban and suburban areas. They have discovered that abandoning a canyon wall for a nice home on the golf course is a good trade. Tall buildings that resemble cliffs are good, too. While some species migrate, they tend to return to the same nest site year after year, and they multiply.

The good news about swallow control is that we can help. You have the right, and even the obligation, to get rid of swallows on buildings where people live. Why? Because it isn't safe to share your home with swallows and their accompanying diseases and parasites. The mess itself can be dangerous as people can slip and fall on fresh droppings and other nesting debris. We remove swallows in a humane way with repellents and exclusion devices that make it difficult to impossible for them to build their nests in that location again. The birds are not harmed, nor do we harm eggs. You don't have to "just live with it." Our swallow control services allow everyone to go on living in peace.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Arvada and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

For pigeon and bird control, bat removal, or relief from other pest animals, call our wildlife management experts. Many nuisance wildlife companies offer critter capture and control; our wildlife operators provide professional pest wild animal management. We remove the following AND MORE:

Get rid of Swallows in Arvada, Colorado

I grew up on a ranch in Southern Colorado and we always had swallows around. They would nest in the barn and the calving sheds and my Grandpa always said they helped to keep the bugs down. We really did seem to have fewer problems with flies and mosquitoes than many of the neighbors and I felt quite kindly towards the birds and enjoyed watching their swooping, acrobatic flight. When I would here people talk about how they wanted to get rid of swallows, I was surprised. What could be wrong with these great birds?

Well, this is many years later and I now live in Arvada. I purchased an older home, a great two story with high roof peaks, kind of Victorian. I love the house. It has high eaves and a great front porch. What I didn't know is that the birds like it, too. At first, I was pleased. "No bugs for me", I thought. Well, the "no bugs" thing might be true, but I also have no peace. What was one nest the first year has become six, high up in the highest of the peaks on the house. This spring a pair decided to build up under the porch and spent several weeks dive-bombing anyone who tried to approach. We had to use the back door and direct any company that direction, too. The mess is surprisingly big and ugly (I guess I didn't notice as a kid). The house is stained and the paint is damaged. How many nests will I have next year? The time has come to get rid of swallows!

But, how to do it? The birds are federally protected because they are so beneficial and migratory besides. I understand all that, but what about my house? What about my porch (which I loved to sit on, ironically to watch the birds)? What about my visitors? Don't I have a right to get rid of swallows?

I turns out that I do, but it has to be done humanely and without harming the nest while there are young in it. And, there are professionals who do this sort of thing every day. Even when nesting sites are very high or hard to reach, swallow control specialists can get rid of swallows in a way that doesn't harm the birds, damage my house or put me in danger. I love it! The birds are gone and I don't have to feel guilty for wanting to get rid of swallows!
