Using all of our resources, we cleaned up any feces, hair, dirt, bugs, bones, and any other debris that had been scattered by the invaders.  We then tore out and replaced the ruined and contaminated insulation and repaired any damaged beams.  After replacing the missing insulation and sealing off the hole the raccoons had used for an entrance, we called it a job well done.

The Miller\'s were grateful that they were no longer sharing their home with any unwanted guests and that they now had peace of mind that their daughter and baby on the way would be safe from any undesirable sickness.

\"This ain\'t no KFC\"

About a week ago, we received a puzzling text message from a resident in Washington County.  She asked us what she should do \"with her problem once she catches it\".  We asked for a specification of said problem ad we received an even more puzzling response.

\"I have raccoons that think I\'m running a KFC\".

Still confused, we did a little more digging and communicating with the customer, and discovered that her \"problem\" was that raccoons were breaking into her chicken coop every night, and killing roughly 3-5 chickens!

We gave her a few pointers and let her loose on the animals; with no luck.  It wasn\'t a day later that she called back, enraged with a broken trap.  She had set the trap that night and caught a raccoon, but the raccoon didn\'t stay trapped for very long!  The next morning the trap was sprung, the bait gone, and no raccoon.  What she did have was a trap with a broken door and 9 dead chickens.

With only 6 chickens left, she was desperate for outside help, and we were up for the task.  Luckily, we were close to her area working at a bat job, so we were out for an inspection within 2 hours. 

What we found was well hidden hole dug behind the coop that was covered mostly by sage brush.  This hole led to a break in the floor of the coop, meaning entrance number one had been discovered.  Entrance two was a little trickier, but we were able to spot it.  A small gap between the outer wall and the roof served as a perfect spot for a raccoon to wriggle its body into the hen house.

We put in blockades for these two holes and made a pit stop at our shop to collect the tools we were going to need for this job. 

Equipment in hand, we returned that night to catch the serial chicken killers.  With traps positioned perfectly and the chickens stored in the customer’s garage for the night, we were able to turn the tables on the thieves and catch 3 of them in the next two days. 

After catching what we hoped to be all of the raccoons in question, we removed our traps and sealed off the entrances to prevent any further chicken killings.

Dealing with raccoons can definitely be complicated and sometimes it does take a professional to solve the problem.
