How To Get Rid Of Attic Raccoons

Here is a situation we encountered in Box Elder County:

\"My husband and I have a raccoon that has been living in our attic in our home near Brigham City for two months now. We discovered the hole where the raccoon has been coming in and out of the attic and at first we left it open, hoping that it would leave on its own. But after a few weeks, the raccoon still did not leave.

The next thing we tried was placing a radio in the attic trying to scare the raccoon away. This didn\'t work so we decided to place a live trap in the attic. Then we covered the entrance hoping that the raccoon would get hungry and go into the live trap. Nothing has worked.

My husband just got a new job across the country and he starts in just a few weeks. We need to try and sell our home quickly but we know that no one will want the home now. Can you help?\"

We definitely can help with raccoons in the attic and we will be happy to do so. It is rarely successful trying to trap a raccoon (or any other animal for that matter) on the inside of an attic. You just never know what the raccoon will do. It could rip out your insulation or electric wiring in its efforts to escape, causing an unwanted house fire. We would have to go up to trap the raccoon on the outside of the attic with special equipment that we have. We usually can go near the opening where they are getting in and catch the raccoon on the roof.

Also, the raccoon may be preparing her den for her forthcoming babies. Or the raccoon may be what we call \"trap-shy.\" It has probably been caught in a trap and released before; if so, it knows what traps are and will never voluntarily go back in one again. In wither of these scenarios, we have to use alternative trapping methods.

Lastly, you certainly can\'t sell your house in this condition, or at least without disclosing that you have a raccoon in the attic. If you don\'t disclose it, the new owners could bring a lawsuit against you for withholding information on the sale and that can be unbelievably expensive.

Fortunately, this woman and her husband did choose to hire us and we were able to remove the raccoon in their attic within two days. We also went inside the attic and found six young baby raccoons. We were able to remove all of them as well and to clean up all the mess the raccoon left behind.

Pigeons Taking Over New Construction in Box Elder County, UT

We are concerned. My husband and I are currently building a new home for our family in Box Elder County, Utah, and it is everything we want; except for the pigeons who think that our new “nest” is theirs.

They are building a nest in the attic and inside the air-conditioning vents. There are pigeon droppings scattered throughout the house. The exterior is almost finished and then the workers will begin on the interior. I want this mess gone as soon as possible.

I did a search on the web and found this company called Allstate Animal Control and contacted them for their Pigeon Control services. A professional removal technician came out within a few days.

It took several weeks, but they were able to catch all of the pigeons and haul them away. They also cleaned up the areas that were infested with droppings in the attic and the air conditioning vents.

Our workers are back on schedule and we should be able to move into our new home in just a few more weeks.
