\"Wacky Woodpeckers\" in Roy, Utah

\"I can\'t get any sleep!\"

\"My house looks like Swiss cheese!\"

\"These woodpeckers are driving me absolutely crazy!\"

If you have ever thought something like this, you aren\'t alone.  For years woodpeckers have been a nuisance for hundreds of families in Utah alone. They are, however, a Federally Protected bird, making their removal more complicated; especially for homeowners who try to tackle such a large task on their own.

Last month, we received a call from a young wife who was absolutely in tatters because of her woodpecker problem.  Not only had she and her husband just bought their home, but she had also recently brought a newborn to that home.

\"As if the baby didn\'t already keep me up at night, now just when I get to sleep that stupid woodpecker starts drilling on the side of my house!  It\'s like a jackhammer that just goes and goes and goes and goes, I can\'t stand it anymore.  I get so little sleep I swear I\'m going to start hallucinating soon.\"

Any parent knows that having a baby is an almost sleepless job, the problem is so is harboring a woodpecker!  One of them had to go.

We went out to inspect her house the next day and sure enough, a woodpecker had left its mark on the house... and the front door, and the porch, and the shutters.  There was no need to search for the animal, we knew it was there and very active. Most of the holes were small, but there were two the size of an orange on the side of the house.  These two holes seemed to be stuffed with twigs and grasses; they appeared to have been turned into nests for some other birds!

We immediately got to work.  We set out deterrents around the house in what we could tell were active holes.  We also used a special woodpecker deterrent spray around the same holes to try and scare the bird from the house.

Well after two weeks of continual irritation and hard work, the woodpecker decided that this was no longer the place for him.  And this sweet mother couldn\'t have been more appreciative.

We don\'t want anyone to lose sleep like this.  Not to mention the money spent filling and repairing each of the holes.  Not only are woodpeckers damaging to the sanity of home-owners, but they can also be dangerous for your wallets.  Call us before your woodpecker problem spirals out of control.

Whats causing a stink in Roy, Utah?

Everyone knows the too familiar smell of skunk spray.  Be it driving down the road or actually having a skunk in your house or on your property, you\'ve probably smelt it somewhere.

The customer who\'s story we are going to share with you below had the displeasure of smelling skunk every day for almost a month!  Luckily, we were able to help him with both the animals and the smell, but the story is still wild.

After claiming his crawlspace as their own, we were called by a young man to help remove a family of skunks from his home.  There had been what he believed to be a small family of skunks living under his house that were spraying and causing trouble.  This is what we came prepared to remove and were surprised to not find.

Upon arrival at the client\'s home, we promptly did an inspection of the area to find the entrance and prepare traps to be set.

Within the next couple of days we caught two large skunks and were able to trap about 4 babies.  Considering this a success we prepared to do an inspection of the crawlspace and do some odor control to help the smell dissipate faster.

After crawling below the home and doing what we could to control the odor, we considered it a job well done and closed off the entrance.

Fast forward to the next week and we are back at the same home dealing with the same problem, only this time it\'s in the crawlspace AND the attic.

Unbeknownst to us, there had been TWO families of skunks living underneath the home and after removing one of them, a raccoon found his way to the entrance we closed off and opened it up again.  After getting into a small tussle with the skunks, he left smelling significantly worse to find a new part of the house to call his own.  The attic.

We may not be Sherlock Holmes, but we were able to crack this mystery and solve the case.  We removed all of the critters this time (including the raccoon and a mouse we found hiding in the attic) and cleared out most of the smell that had permeated everything.  What we couldn\'t remove disappeared within a few days.

We don\'t want anyone to have to go through this process alone.  Not to mention the money spent replacing what the smell wouldn\'t come out of!  Call us before your skunk problem really starts to stink.
