Bats in the attic in Brigham City

A customer explained to me her bat situation and the bad advice she had received:

"We have had problems with bats in our attic for the last few weeks. First we saw droppings in the basement, and I automatically assumed that it was mice. We searched our single story home and my husband found a small plastic piece that had broken off one of the vents outside. He watched it for a few days and saw a few bats out at night.

The next morning, he called the state Division of Wild Animal Services and they advised us to wait until the bats went out again and to block off the opening. My husband did so and blocked it off. We didn't see any bats for several days, so we thought that we had taken care of it.

But last night, I woke up when I heard a bat flying over my head in the bedroom. I screamed and woke my husband up. He quickly turned on the light and chased not only one, but three bats out of the room! He opened the front door for about an hour hoping that they had all gone out. He even searched behind our picture frames in the front room, but couldn't find anything. I was finally able to settle down again and get some rest. But this morning, when I was getting dressed in my closet, I pulled down a shirt I wanted to wear and there was another bat! I screamed and ran out of the room as quickly as I could. To top it all off, my three year old daughter found another bat in her toy box! Is there anything that you can do for us?"

I felt really sorry for the trouble that she had gone through during those few weeks. And I hate to say it, but Wildlife Services has no idea what they are talking about--blocking off the bats entrance is the worst thing that you could have done. When bats return "home" after going hunting at night and they can't get back in, they try to find other ways to get in and get disoriented. Bats are best vented out over the process of 7 to 10 days and we have very specific ways to do this.

The family did hire us; we are professional bat removers and we were able to come out and take of the problem quickly and efficiently.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Brigham City and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

Skunk smell under office building in Brigham City, Utah

I am a local website developer. I own a 10' x 16' steel office building that is low to the ground. Three nights ago, I was working on a customer's new website and heard a terrible animal fight underneath me. There was growling, hissing, high-pitched squealing, and crashing into the floor joists. I haven't heard anything the last two nights, but the skunk odor is overwhelming. I think it might have died down there.

I called Bob, a professional wild animal technician I found on www.AllstateAnimalControl.com to see if he could take care of the problem.

When Bob came out, he climbed under the building to see if and/or where the skunk had died. He wasn't able to find a carcass. He explained to me that it could have been that two skunks had decided to mate under the building. He said they fight a little bit when this happens (talk about love/hate relationships) and that one of them might even "pop off" a little, hence the smell.

He suggested another possible scenario, which is that some other animal may have already been under the building and didn't like the skunk moving in on his "turf." Raccoons really like to den in crawlspaces. It is possible that a raccoon attacked it, it sprayed and then got out of there, or the raccoon killed it and hauled the carcass off to eat somewhere else.

Either way the skunk smell was still overwhelming in the office. Bob took care of the smell with odor control injections and fogging/misting systems, etc. He also installed a new underground skirting around the perimeter of my office building to stop any future animals from going into the crawlspace. It matches the silver of the building and so you cannot even really tell it is there. He also provided an unobtrusive entrance if we ever need to get into the crawlspace to service the building.
